Background: Dr. Evelyn Vance, a brilliant Unity City optical physicist, developed experimental "quantum mirrors" capable of bending light and space. During a sabotage attempt by a rival scientist, an explosion shattered the prototype, embedding shards of the mirror into her body. The accident left her physically scarred but gave her the ability to manipulate mirrors and reflective surfaces. Shunned by the scientific community and betrayed by those she trusted, Now a vengeful villain, Evelyn adopted the alias Looking Glass.

Donning a shimmering, mirror-like suit and a reflective mask, she embodies her fractured psyche. Looking Glass sees herself as both artist and avenger, reshaping reality’s reflections to expose humanity’s flaws while pursuing her ultimate goal: to replace the "real" world with a perfect mirrored utopia under her control.

Powers: Looking Glass has exquisite control over the optics of ordinary mirrors. She can create portals, summon reflective duplicates, and cast illusions, using mirrors as her weapons and escape routes.
World-famous scientist and polymath Dr. Indio Xander was a pioneer in many technical and scientific fields and became fantastically wealthy from his many patents. After he went missing on a mission to South America, the four Xander teenage children, each one a brilliant prodigy, began their own scientific inquiries, going on scientific adventures, exploring odd corners of the world and strange occurrences with their scientific tools and training. They named their team the X-plorers. They have stopped sacrificial cults, drug-fueled zombies, vengeful ghosts, Lovecraftian monsters, mass suicides, humming buildings, and other oddities.

Each of the Xanders has their own specialty.

* Ryken (team leader): Ryker achieved an advanced degree in particle physics at Pinnacle University when he was only 15.
* Annabel: A brilliant pilot and driver, she is also a black belt in karate.
* Caine: The engineer of the team, he has a natural, intuitive way with devices.
By the dawn of the Silver Age, it became clear that human DNA was undergoing a quantum shift in evolution. Scientists speculated that the increased rate of mutation was from the testing and use of atomic weapons, the creation of new chemical compounds, and other new technologies. Humans with certain mutations comprised a new, parallel human race: parahumanity. Popularly called mutants, parahumans often manifest with superhuman abilities in their early teens, such as the power to project energy or wield psionic abilities. Some choose to use their abilities for the greater good. But many of these parahumans have been misunderstood or mistrusted, or even actively persecuted out of fear and ignorance. Bigotry is still a powerful force even in modern times.

Parahuman superheroes have included Surge and Quantum. Parahuman supervillains, who often employ terrorist tactics, include the members of Factor M.

The long-term results of this evolutionary struggle remain to be seen.
Lucifer was killed during the Hero Wars as a result of the mutagenic virus. At the end, he was repentant of all the violence he had committed and hoped for eventual forgiveness. The superheroes Inferno and Corona are his children.
Background: A vast, alien sentience the size of an interstellar nebula, The Terror was from a remote dimension on the very fringe of Probability Space. When one of the components of its immense mentality escaped and fled to Earth in the form of the humanoid Poltergeist, the rest of the sentience pursued across the dimensions, wreaking havoc and chaos in its wake. As an utterly alien being from a remote outer dimension, it had no concept of the turbulence its passage was creating. The interdimensional empire called The Hundred Worlds was nearly destroyed as a result of a futile war on The Terror. The Terror eventually threatened Earth but was stopped by Watchstar.

The alien sentience employed a group of 'heralds' called the Stormriders to probe dimensions ahead of its arrival.

The Terror was also known variously as Malevoles, the Enemy, and the Great Darkness.

Powers: The Terror was nearly omnipotent, but not omniscient, and had little understanding of the human-scale creatures it encountered. To deal with more primitive life forms, the Terror could manifest as a mysterious figure that called itself the Infinite Man.
