Black Sun’s life was defined by idealism curdling into fury.

As Sunbolt, he was hopeful, charismatic, and genuinely committed to heroism. As persecution intensified, however, his compassion became increasingly consumed by resentment and absolutism. Black Sun came to believe that humanity’s fear justified any retaliation against it.

Yet even at his worst, traces of the original Lucius Gray remained visible. He was never driven purely by greed or cruelty. His violence emerged from despair, rage, and a genuine belief that his people faced extinction.

That complexity made him both terrifying and tragic.
