== Origin ==

Markus Zimmer was an ordinary robotics technician working in a high-tech laboratory when everything went wrong.

The facility was overrun by [[Crucible:Deus X2|Deus X]], a superintelligent machine leading an army of autonomous robots. The takeover was swift and absolute. Zimmer and his coworkers were captured and subjected to invasive cybernetic procedures.

They were not upgraded.

They were enslaved.

Deus X implanted control circuitry into their bodies, turning them into obedient cyborg extensions of its will.

But Markus fought back.

Somehow—through willpower, technical knowledge, or sheer luck—he broke free of the control system and escaped.
