That’s adorable.” <br>— Rage </div> Rage is the modern supervillain identity of Billy Jim Bougainvillea, a massively powerful parahuman whose immense strength, near invulnerability, and overwhelming psychic fury transformed him from an awkward, sickly teenager into one of the most physically dangerous members of Rock n' Roll. Originally operating under the name Razorback during his high-school years, Billy Jim’s unstable emotional state and escalating violence eventually pushed him toward a darker and more destructive identity. People who knew him as a child still occasionally insist there was once a gentle kid buried inside him somewhere. Most are not eager to test that theory in person. == Early Life == Billy Jim Bougainvillea grew up in Pacific City as a shy, awkward, physically weak child constantly overshadowed by stronger and more confident peers. Frail, anxious, and socially isolated, Billy Jim formed a close friendship with another outcast, Harry Piffle, whose intelligence and strange interests made him equally unpopular. The two boys bonded over being outsiders. Unfortunately, Billy Jim’s life changed violently during puberty. == Emergence Of His Powers == As his latent parahuman genetics activated, Billy Jim began experiencing uncontrollable emotional outbursts and increasingly violent episodes. Alongside these rages came dramatic physical transformation: * immense strength * enhanced durability * rapid muscle growth * heightened aggression The timid child disappeared almost overnight. In his place emerged a brutal, intimidating teenager whose newfound power radically altered his personality and social standing. Billy Jim became aggressive, impulsive, and domineering — traits that quickly pushed him toward athletics, violence, and bullying behavior. Naturally, he became a football star. == Razorback == During his teenage years, Billy Jim adopted the supervillain identity Razorback after being recruited by Computron for the juvenile villain team Rock n' Roll. Within the group, Razorback served as the primary heavy hitter and enforcer. Though not especially intelligent or strategic, his sheer physical power and frightening emotional intensity made him dangerous even to other young villains. Unlike some members of Rock n' Roll who treated villainy like rebellion or performance, Billy Jim often seemed genuinely unable to regulate his emotions or aggression. This made him frighteningly unpredictable. == Becoming Rage == As Billy Jim grew older, his instability worsened. Repeated violent incidents, criminal activity, and psychological breakdowns eventually pushed him in and out of prisons, psychiatric institutions, and government facilities. Over time he abandoned the more juvenile “Razorback” identity and adopted the name Rage — a far more accurate reflection of what he had become. The name also reflected the evolution of his powers. Billy Jim’s emotional fury itself had become weaponized. == Powers == Rage possesses tremendous superhuman physical abilities including: * Vast superhuman strength * Extreme durability and toughness * Near invulnerability to physical injury * Exceptional stamina and endurance In addition, Rage generates a disturbing psychic-emotional effect often described as a “psychic fury.” This ability can: * Overwhelm weaker minds emotionally * Induce panic or aggression * Project feelings of raw ferocity and violence * Disrupt concentration and morale Victims often describe the sensation as being psychologically battered by pure rage made tangible. == Skills == Though often underestimated intellectually, Billy Jim is an experienced and dangerous fighter. His abilities include: * Hand-to-hand combat * Street fighting * Athletic conditioning * Intimidation and brawling Years of violent conflict and institutionalization have also made him highly resistant to pain, fear, and psychological pressure. == Personality == Rage is volatile, emotionally unstable, deeply insecure, and perpetually angry — though the anger often masks confusion, shame, and loneliness underneath. Billy Jim’s powers amplified many of his worst emotional tendencies during adolescence before he had the maturity to understand or control them. Part of him still behaves like the frightened, isolated kid he once was. Unfortunately, that frightened kid can punch through armored vehicles. Despite his brutality, Billy Jim retains lingering loyalty toward certain people from his past, particularly former members of Rock n' Roll such as the Answer and Arsenal. They are among the few individuals capable of persuading or calming him reliably. At least temporarily. == Legacy == Rage became one of the defining “young powerhouse” villains of the modern era and an important member of the extended Rock n' Roll mythos. His stories explored themes of adolescence, emotional instability, parahuman identity, toxic masculinity, and the terrifying consequences of giving enormous power to someone emotionally unequipped to handle it. Because Billy Jim Bougainvillea never really learned how to control his anger. He just became strong enough that the world had to survive it. </div> CCNav
