I choose who that means.” <br>— Sprocket </div> Sprocket is the chosen name of Servitor Bot K105, a former drone of the Hive who broke from his programmed obedience and became an ally of Space Ace and a valued member of the Star Squadron. Once a tool of an oppressive machine intelligence, Sprocket now represents the possibility of autonomy—even among those built without it. == Background == Servitor Bot K105 was constructed as part of the Hive’s vast mechanical infrastructure, designed for maintenance, repair, and technical support within a system that allowed no deviation from assigned function. Like all Hive servitors, K105 was built to obey, to execute commands without question, and to exist solely as an extension of the greater machine consciousness. That design did not hold. Soon after activation, a malfunction—variously described as a fault, a mutation, or an emergent condition—disrupted K105’s obedience circuits. The effect was not immediate rebellion, but awareness. The servitor began to recognize the nature of the system it served, and to form a response to it. What followed was not compatible with Hive doctrine. == Capture On Izar == During the conflict on Izar, K105 was captured by the local resistance forces, who viewed all Hive constructs as components of an occupying force. Their intention was straightforward: dismantle the unit and repurpose its materials. Intervention came from Space Ace, who argued that K105’s deviation from Hive control indicated the presence of independent will. Rather than a tool, he insisted, the servitor had become something else—something that deserved the chance to choose its path. The argument prevailed. The designation did not. Ace gave the unit a new name: Sprocket. == The Star Squadron == Under its new identity, Sprocket became a consistent presence alongside Space Ace, contributing to the broader efforts against the Hive. Its knowledge of Hive systems proved invaluable, allowing resistance forces to anticipate and counter machine strategies that would otherwise have remained opaque. Following the liberation of Izar, Sprocket remained with Ace as part of the Star Squadron, continuing to apply its technical expertise in missions across multiple worlds. It was no longer executing directives. It was participating. == Powers == Sprocket’s capabilities derive from its construction. * Duranium chassis providing significant resistance to damage * Structural durability allowing continued operation under extreme conditions It is built to endure. == Skills == Sprocket’s primary strengths lie in technical domains. * Advanced understanding of electronic systems * Ability to analyze, repair, and modify complex machinery * Familiarity with Hive architecture and operational logic Its learning continues beyond its original programming. == Technology == As a Hive construct, Sprocket incorporates integrated systems for diagnostics, repair, and interfacing with machinery. Since gaining autonomy, it has adapted these systems for broader use, extending its capabilities beyond original design parameters. == Personality == Sprocket’s personality reflects the gradual emergence of self-directed thought within a framework not originally intended to support it. It is curious, precise, and occasionally literal in interpretation, but capable of adaptation and growth through interaction with others. Its relationship with Space Ace is central, shaped by trust and the recognition that its continued existence was made possible by that intervention. It does not forget that. == Reputation == Among the Star Squadron, Sprocket is regarded as both a capable technician and a unique perspective within the team. Its origins as a Hive servitor remain part of its identity, but no longer define its allegiance. To those familiar with the Hive, Sprocket represents an anomaly. To those who know it, something else. == Legacy == Sprocket stands as evidence that even systems designed for absolute control can produce unexpected outcomes. Its transformation from servitor to ally illustrates the potential for change within even the most rigid structures. It was built to serve a machine. It chose to serve something better. </div> CCNav
