Among these projects was the development of an enormous steam-powered combat armor system intended to create an invulnerable super-soldier capable of smashing through enemy fortifications and superhuman resistance alike.

The project demanded a pilot willing to endure extraordinary physical strain and near-total confinement inside the armored chassis.

Given the scale of the armor and the violence surrounding its deployments, few believed he could ever truly survive outside it for long anyway.

Steamroller remains one of the classic Golden Age “heavy” villains associated with [[Crucible:The Victory Squadron|the Victory Squadron]], representing the terrifying fusion of fascist militarism, industrial horror, and early super-science warfare.

Though later armored villains became sleeker and more advanced, few ever matched the sheer brutal presence of Steamroller lumbering through smoke and ruins toward his enemies.
