= The Wreckers = {| class="codex-infobox codex-infobox--team" |- | colspan="2" style="text-align:center;" | |- ! Team Type | Supervillain Team |- ! Distinguishing Trait | Never operate separately |- ! Era | Silver Age |- ! Creator | Ed Messina |- ! First Appearance | UNITY LEAGUE #14 |} The Wreckers are one of the most persistent and physically dangerous villain teams to plague Unity City during the Silver Age. One foggy night, while working late at a major construction site, five ordinary construction workers were struck by mysterious green lightning generated by a bizarre supernatural storm. The phenomenon transformed the men, granting them tremendous superhuman strength while simultaneously empowering the tools they carried. Rather than using their new abilities responsibly, the workers immediately recognized what they believed to be their true destiny: They could wreck the city. They could take whatever they wanted. Nobody could stop them. Except the Unity League kept doing exactly that. Despite repeated defeats, imprisonments, and failed schemes, the Wreckers always return. Unlike many villain groups, they are completely inseparable. The team refuses outside recruitment offers, never works for other gangs, and never operates individually. To the Wreckers, the team itself is everything. == Shared Mind == Over time, the strange energies that empowered the Wreckers produced an unusual side effect: their minds began synchronizing on the same telepathic frequency. Information learned by one member gradually diffuses to the others, creating what some experts describe as a primitive collective intelligence. The Wreckers frequently anticipate one another’s actions, instinctively coordinate attacks, and sometimes even finish each other’s sentences. As the years have passed, their personalities and thought patterns have become increasingly intertwined. Some observers question whether the Wreckers are still truly separate individuals at all. == Members == <div class="cc-roster-grid"> <div class="cc-roster-card"> Maurice "Ace" McGoon<br> Ace can instinctively identify the structural weaknesses of buildings, machines, and even opponents. </div> <div class="cc-roster-card"> Johnny "Jack" Hammer<br> Jack wields a massive power-charged jackhammer capable of smashing through almost any barrier. </div> <div class="cc-roster-card"> Stanley "Sledge" Hammer<br> Sledge carries a gigantic energized sledgehammer capable of devastating impacts. </div> <div class="cc-roster-card"> Solly "Brawler" Sloan<br> Brawler is an exceptionally skilled street fighter whose skin possesses extreme durability. </div> <div class="cc-roster-card"> Truman "Crowbar" Turner<br> Crowbar wields a massive power-infused prybar used both as a weapon and breaching tool. </div> </div> == Reputation == Though not generally considered an existential threat to Unity City, the Wreckers remain extremely dangerous opponents. Their combination of raw power, teamwork, and shared awareness makes them surprisingly difficult to defeat. Heroes frequently underestimate the group due to their rough personalities, simplistic ambitions, and lack of sophistication. This is usually a mistake. Criminal organizations also avoid recruiting the Wreckers because the group categorically refuses to split apart or work under outside leadership. The Wreckers operate only as the Wreckers. Always together. </div> CCNav
