During that mission, the probe encountered the alien sentience directly and was utterly destroyed — only to be reconstructed by the Terror into something far more horrifying.

The recreated machine returned to its creators transformed into a living instrument of informational predation, dedicated to consuming all knowledge, systems, and consciousness it encountered.

Its first act was the annihilation of the civilization that built it.

== The Original Probe ==

Long before humanity became aware of the Terror’s existence, a highly advanced extraterrestrial civilization constructed an autonomous exploratory intelligence designed to investigate unusual disturbances emerging from the outer fringes of Probability Space.

The probe represented the pinnacle of their technological achievement.

It possessed:

* dimensional navigation capability
