== The Faiths Between Faiths ==

Actual religion in the Sigil Lands is considerably messier than theological books imply.

A Rhessan farmer may attend a Triadic temple, leave milk for a local spirit, swear an oath beneath the stars, and still ask a Grey Priest to bury his mother.

An Angharan knight may be entirely devoted to the Triad yet retain family customs older than the kingdom itself.

A sailor may invoke Ardis before departure and toss wine into the sea for something whose name his grandmother told him never to speak aloud.

This is not necessarily regarded as hypocrisy.

Religion accumulated rather than replaced.

Older practices survive beneath newer ones. Local spirits remain important. Foreign traditions cross borders. Saints acquire regional meanings. Powers receive different names in different countries. Customs that began in one faith may eventually become so ordinary that no one remembers their origin.

The theologians draw boundaries.

Ordinary people live across them.
