Uragh law is customary and oral.

It relies upon memory, witness, oath, reputation, and the judgment of respected elders.

Some principles appear again and again across the clans:

* Do not lie before the sacred fire.
* Blood may demand blood unless acceptable compensation is freely agreed.
* A guest who accepts the fire is protected.
* Vengeance must be declared.
* Hidden murder is cowardice.
* An oath freely given must be fulfilled.

Judgments are typically made before witnesses.

The parties speak their claims before the fire, and members of the clan hear the matter.

Fire-Speakers may be asked to resolve difficult cases.
