== Korda and Vulkah Funerals ==

The Grey Priests of [[Sigil:Korda|Korda the Gatherer]] occupy an unusual position in Vulk because Korda's clergy are recognized throughout most Rhone lands as custodians of the dead, while the Vulkah possess funerary traditions far older than regular contact with the Rhone kingdoms. Where Grey Priests serve established Vulkah communities, their role has therefore developed through accommodation rather than replacement.

Korda's responsibility for seeing souls safely toward the Far Fields does not inherently conflict with the Vulkah return to the Deep. Disagreement arises more often over ritual authority: who prepares the body, which rites belong to the Sept, what may be witnessed by outsiders, and where a Grey Priest's responsibility ends within a funerary tradition whose meaning belongs specifically to the Vulkah.

Long-established Grey Priests generally learn the local customs and work within them. Those who arrive convinced that the Vulkah have been waiting several thousand years for Rhone instruction in how to bury their dead tend to receive an education of their own.
