Off the Stormlands lie the [[Sigil:Maeron Isles|Maeron Isles]], whose Rhone inhabitants are commonly known as the '''Freefishers'''.

They are cousins to the Stormlanders but have developed an intensely maritime and independent culture. Fishing, sailing, trading, smuggling, and occasional reaving connect their scattered islands. Their boats can carry salt one week, fugitives the next, and something nobody wishes to discuss the week after.

The islands lie beyond the easiest reach of Vorghol authority, giving the Freefishers choices denied to many mainland Tael Neydrans.

They are not inherently crusaders or romantic rebels. They have aided resistance networks, traded pragmatically with intermediaries of the Shrouded realm, dealt with foreigners, and ignored mainland politics when that best protected their communities.

What they consistently oppose is other people deciding what may be done with Freefisher boats.
