== Background ==

Arnold Potter began his career as an assassin and field operative for the [[Crucible:SIA|Scientific Intelligence Agency]], where he served alongside Matt Davis, the man who would later become [[Crucible:Gunslinger|Gunslinger]]. Potter was a skilled and dependable shooter, but his loyalty proved far less reliable than his aim.

During a critical mission, Potter accepted bribes to betray his teammates. The betrayal left deep scars, particularly on Davis, who never forgave him. From that point forward, the two men became bitter enemies, their shared history turning every later encounter into something personal.

After leaving the SIA, Potter reinvented himself as '''Deadeye''', selling his services as a freelance assassin and mercenary. His reputation grew quickly, not because he was flamboyant or especially ideological, but because he was effective. If hired to kill someone, Deadeye usually completed the job.
