== Background ==

Harper St. Clair grew up in New Orleans, the son of a woman desperate to protect him from the dangers of the world. In her fear, she made a deal with a Cajun sorceress, accepting a charm that would safeguard her son’s life.

She did not understand the full cost of that protection.

Years later, Harper became a private detective, navigating the shadowed underbelly of New Orleans with skill and determination. His work eventually brought him into conflict with the wizard [[Crucible:Bad Moon|Bad Moon]], whose criminal enterprises relied on both mundane and mystical power.

Captured by thugs in Bad Moon’s employ, Harper was beaten to death.

But death did not claim him.

The charm placed upon him in childhood activated, resurrecting Harper as something no longer entirely human—a being driven by vengeance. Though he could be killed again, and often suffered for it, he would always return.
