== Origin ==

Dr. Malcolm Adrian Crowley was once considered one of the brightest industrial engineers of his generation. A child prodigy from Detroit, Crowley earned multiple advanced degrees before the age of twenty-five and quickly became known for his radical theories regarding modular battlefield technology and adaptive machine intelligence.

Crowley believed that modern heroes represented the next stage of human evolution—not because of morality or courage, but because they embraced technological transcendence. He became obsessed with creating systems that could allow ordinary humans to compete with armored heroes, mutants, and cosmic beings.

That obsession eventually destroyed his career.

Crowley’s prototypes were deemed catastrophically unsafe. Military contracts vanished after several fatal testing accidents. Investors fled. Government oversight agencies blacklisted him after evidence surfaced that he had conducted illegal live-fire testing using prison labor supplied through shell corporations.

Humiliated and increasingly paranoid, Crowley disappeared into the criminal underworld.

Years later, he resurfaced as '''M.A.C.R.O.'''—a name derived from his own initials and standing for '''Mechanized Assault Combat Response Operator'''. By then, he had transformed himself into a living weapons platform.

His first public appearance involved the destruction of a PHASE II armored convoy carrying confiscated experimental technology. Waiting for him at the scene was [[Crucible:Tech|Tech]], who barely survived the encounter.

From that moment onward, the two became bitter enemies.
