== Founding ==

The Nova Institute was founded by [[Crucible:Doctor Nathaniel Nova|Dr. Nathaniel Nova]], one of the great scientific figures of the modern era. Nova envisioned an independent research institution free from the slower machinery of government, the narrow profit motives of corporations, and the departmental rivalries of traditional universities.

His goal was ambitious: to create a place where the best researchers in the world could study the most difficult questions without being confined by conventional academic boundaries. Biology, physics, psychology, engineering, computation, sociology, medicine, and metahuman science would not be treated as separate kingdoms, but as interlocking fields within a larger inquiry into life, mind, matter, society, and power.

Denver was chosen partly for practical reasons: central location, available land, relative distance from coastal political pressures, and access to major universities, federal facilities, transportation, and mountain-region security. Over time, the Nova Institute became one of Colorado’s most important scientific landmarks.
