== Geography And Resources ==

Most of Yatakang’s terrain is arid desert or dry steppe, broken by stony uplands, salt flats, river valleys, and mineral-rich hills. Summers are punishing, winters are bitter, and much of the countryside is sparsely populated. Settlements cluster around wells, roads, oil towns, mining sites, military bases, and older communities that predate the modern republic by centuries.

The country’s wealth lies beneath the ground. Yatakang possesses major oil reserves, natural gas deposits, rare metals, industrial minerals, and strategically valuable extraction sites. These resources could have made the republic prosperous. Instead, they have made it a prize.

Foreign oil companies, local warlords, government factions, smugglers, mercenaries, and outside powers have all fought, bargained, bribed, and killed for influence over Yatakang’s resources. Pipelines and refineries are guarded like fortresses. Mining towns often have more soldiers than teachers. In Yatakang, geology is politics.
