== The Other Kindreds ==

Gholibin relations with the '''Seylandri''' carry the greatest burden of history. Their peoples fought in the Numberless Wars and stood on opposite sides during the Great Wrath, when both suffered losses almost beyond reckoning. A thousand years has not erased that past, particularly among two peoples capable of remembering it with unusual persistence. Yet memory is not the same thing as perpetual war. Modern Gholibin and Seylandri can meet, trade, cooperate, dislike one another, become friends, or simply discover that an individual encountered on a road has little resemblance to an enemy in an ancient song.

Their relationship with the '''Dragha''' is older still and profoundly different. The ancient alliance survived in Gholibin memory long after the world that created it had changed. Respect for the Dragha does not require the Gholibin to believe every decision made during the Great Wrath was wise. Indeed, a people capable of remembering loyalty is equally capable of remembering its cost.

The '''Rhone''' are relative newcomers by Gholibin reckoning, although enough centuries have now passed that this distinction has little relevance to everyday encounters. Gholibin communities live near, within, and beyond Rhone realms, sometimes trading regularly with neighboring villages and sometimes avoiding them almost completely. Rhone authorities have repeatedly claimed forests and hills whose Gholibin inhabitants were never consulted on the matter. Gholibin musicians have also influenced popular music in places where the two peoples live closely, although Rhone musicians have a curious habit of improving the respectability of borrowed Gholibin tunes by playing them more slowly.

The '''Tobon''' are the other small Kindred of the Sigil Lands, but physical scale should not disguise how different the two peoples are. Tobon society is built around hearth and road in ways quite distinct from Gholibin Hearths and Hollowholds, although travelers, traders, musicians, and storytellers can find considerable common ground between them.

The '''Vulkah''' share with the Gholibin an appreciation for defensible places beneath the earth, but little else about their settlements is alike. A Vulkah fortress-city declares its permanence in stone; a Hollowhold may be deliberately erased when its people leave. Both approaches have survived for a very long time.

The '''Uragh''' share something less obvious with the Gholibin: both have repeatedly been mistaken for unsophisticated peoples because outsiders failed to recognize forms of organization unlike their own. The Uragh carry a civilization across the grasslands. The Gholibin conceal one beneath the roots.
