== Ordinary Rhone ==

Kings, knights, priests, and warriors occupy much of written history because chroniclers write about them.

They are not most Rhone.

Most lives concern work: planting, harvesting, tending animals, fishing, weaving, brewing, cutting timber, mining, carrying goods, repairing roofs, raising children, bargaining, sailing, keeping accounts, making tools, and performing the thousand ordinary tasks without which no kingdom survives.

A city contains servants, cooks, porters, apprentices, scribes, chandlers, washerfolk, beggars, thieves, craftspeople, laborers, merchants, boatmen, entertainers, priests, guards, and others whose names will never enter a royal chronicle.

A remote village may care very little about the dispute consuming a royal court two hundred miles away.

Until the king calls the banners.

Then history arrives at the door.
