== Renovation ==

Cyrus spent years renovating, reinforcing, and securing the abandoned station. The work was painstaking, improvised, and deeply personal. He cleared debris, sealed unsafe passages, restored power, stabilized old supports, installed new ventilation, reinforced walls, laid communications cable, secured access points, and turned a ruined transit relic into a working base.

The Lair retains traces of its original purpose. Old platform edges, tiled walls, ironwork, pressure doors, and portions of the pneumatic tunnel system remain visible beneath the newer construction. Cyrus did not erase the station’s history. He built around it, turning the old bones of the city into a hidden fortress.

Much of the renovation was done quietly and without permits, for obvious reasons. Equipment came in through Elysium Electronics as “repair stock,” “salvage,” “storage,” or “old military surplus.” Neighbors knew Cyrus was always hauling something heavy into the back room, but in Red Hook, a man with a cluttered repair shop and eccentric habits attracts less attention than he would elsewhere.
