Sometime during the Bronze Age, mysterious green industrial chemicals began surfacing through portions of the bayou. The toxic substance bubbled upward from beneath the swamp waters, contaminating wildlife, vegetation, and eventually anyone unlucky enough to come into contact with it.

The source was never fully explained.

Some blamed illegal dumping.

Others suspected experimental military waste.

Whatever the truth, exposure to the chemicals triggered catastrophic biological changes in Ezekiel Maxerlee.

His body warped grotesquely.

His nervous system degenerated.

His mind collapsed into primitive fury.

And something enormous began stalking the swamps.
