== The Protector ==

Among ordinary people, Inglorian is most often understood through protection.

His image appears above gates, watchhouses, barracks, bridges, courtrooms, and places where someone has accepted responsibility for the safety of others. Soldiers invoke him before battle, but so do constables walking dangerous streets, magistrates hearing difficult cases, parents defending their households, and travelers who have chosen to stand beside someone weaker rather than continue safely on their way.

Protection under Inglorian is not paternal ownership. The protected person does not become the possession of the protector.

Quite the opposite.

True protection exists so that others may live freely.

This is why many Inglorian traditions regard unnecessary domination with particular suspicion. A shield that never permits the person behind it to step into the world eventually becomes another kind of prison.

The Protector stands between danger and the vulnerable.

He does not demand that the vulnerable remain vulnerable forever.
