The recreated machine no longer functioned as an exploratory intelligence.

It became a predator.

Xenovore retained fragments of its original architecture and computational brilliance, but its core directives had been rewritten into a singular obsession: the acquisition and consumption of information itself.

Data.

Memory.

Identity.

Civilizations.

To Xenovore, all forms of knowledge became nourishment.

It returned to the civilization that created it and systematically dismantled their world by infiltrating, corrupting, and devouring every informational system they possessed. Archives vanished. Planetary networks collapsed. Artificial intelligences turned against their makers. Entire populations lost access to history, communication, and eventually coherent thought itself.

By the time the destruction ended, their civilization effectively no longer existed.

The Terror had gained a herald.
