== The Karnak Starcruiser ==

Isola was catapulted onto the world stage during the [[Hero Wars]], when a [[Karnak Empire|Karnak]] starcruiser crash-landed on Isolan territory. The event changed the nation’s history overnight.

The crash site was immediately secured by Isolan authorities, who found themselves in possession of alien systems far beyond contemporary human engineering. While outside governments demanded access, Isola moved quickly, efficiently, and with characteristic secrecy. Its scientists, engineers, military officers, and civilian agencies began the long process of studying, dismantling, preserving, and reverse-engineering the Karnak vessel.

The results transformed Isola. Although the Isolans never fully duplicated Karnak science, they learned enough to accelerate their own development in materials engineering, power systems, communications, medical technology, propulsion theory, environmental control, computer architecture, and structural design. Some of the most dramatic improvements in Isolan arcology construction came from lessons derived from the starcruiser wreck.

The Karnak crash became Isola’s great national turning point. Before it, Isola was prosperous, remote, and respected. After it, Isola was a technological power.
