== A People Who Move == Although Hollowholds can persist for long periods, Gholibin history has always included movement. Communities relocate because of exhausted resources, changing conditions, danger, opportunity, old custom, or reasons peculiar to the country they inhabit. Their settlements are therefore part of a wider landscape of paths, gathering places, hunting grounds, gardens, woodland resources, old camps, remembered Hollowholds, and territories used at different times. This mobility is not equivalent to Uragh nomadism. The Uragh move great herds across open country according to the demands of pasture and water; the Gholibin more often establish themselves within a particular landscape, exploit it intensively and knowledgeably, and move when circumstances require. Nor are they Wanderfolk in the Tobon sense. Gholibin movement is usually communal rather than a culture centered upon roads and traveling households. Their ability to disappear has contributed greatly to outsiders underestimating their numbers. A Rhone traveler may cross country believed to be almost empty while passing within a short distance of several concealed settlements. Even rulers who claim such territory on maps may have only the vaguest understanding of who actually lives there. Across the wider forests, hills, and mountains of the Sigil Lands, the Gholibin may collectively number in the millions. They simply have no particular reason to assemble where a royal census can find them.
