== The Great Wrath == The Great Wrath began as a conflict between peoples powerful enough to believe they could control its consequences. They could not. The death of Ceanor helped ignite the crisis. His daughter Elohil Miravel demanded vengeance, while High King Aelorin Thaelion warned against the course his people were taking. Aelorin was ultimately cast down by the council of elders that had once supported him. The war continued for roughly a century. The Seylandri fought as heroes of an elder age. Their greatest warriors accomplished deeds that would seem impossible in the present world. Their singers worked the SaΓ«l on an enormous scale. The Dragha answered with fire, strength, ancient knowledge, and weapons of their own. The Gholibin fought upon the Dragha side. For Tar Aerchel, war was not something occurring along a distant frontier. The country itself became the battlefield. Forests burned. Living settlements caught fire and collapsed through the canopy. Places tended for centuries vanished in a night. Great trees that had sheltered generations became towers of flame. Lands that had formed one continuous living realm were divided by devastation. Late in the war came the Vorghol. The Dragha took members of the northern Wraeth peoples and transformed them into nocturnal hunters made specifically to pursue and kill Seylandri. Some were captives. Some entered the transformation willingly. What began as another weapon of the war would survive both civilizations that created the circumstances for it. The Seylandri answered catastrophe with catastrophe. The Great Workings followed. Mountains and forests were scarred. Old courses of water changed. Places became strange. At Aryemar, the remnants of the elder struggle gathered amid a world already approaching ruin. By the end, Tar Aerchel no longer existed as an integrated land. The Great Wrath had not merely defeated the Seylandri. It had destroyed their country.
