== The Spiral ==

During the war, Allied soldiers began drawing small tornado spirals in dust, frost, condensation, spilled beer, and the soot of ruined buildings. The symbol appeared on vehicles, ammunition crates, field maps, and the walls of liberated installations.

It meant that the Tornado had passed through.

It could also mean that help was coming, that the job had already been handled, or that all hell was about to break loose.

Nobody is certain whether Hellstrom originated the mark or merely adopted something created by the GIs. Shamrock once claimed to know the truth but declined to settle the argument.

According to one frequently repeated story, she saw Hellstrom idly trace a spiral into the frost on a window before an operation.
