During the Saurial occupation, [[Watchstar]] was re-formed in NeoYork by Carter Smith, a descendant of [[Protector|Jason Smith]], the original Protector and founder of the first Watchstar team. The name was chosen deliberately. In an occupied Earth where symbols had become weapons, Watchstar represented more than a superhero team. It was a reminder that Earth had once produced champions who stood together against impossible odds.

The new Watchstar began as a resistance cell rather than a public super-team. Its members operated in hiding, moving through NeoYork’s old levels, sealed transit systems, maintenance corridors, refugee zones, and compromised civic networks. They smuggled civilians out of occupied districts, disrupted Saurial patrols, protected rebel transmitters, rescued prisoners, and gathered intelligence for the wider resistance.

Carter Smith understood the value of legacy. The original Protector had helped define heroic resistance in an earlier age, and reviving Watchstar during the occupation gave scattered defenders a rallying point. The team’s emblem appeared in hidden messages, sabotage marks, underground broadcasts, and whispered rumors across the city. To the Saurials, it became a symbol of defiance. This thirty-first-century Watchstar inherited the name, ideals, and burden of the original team while becoming something distinct in its own right. Born in occupation and tested in resistance, it became one of the defining heroic institutions of future Earth.
