The '''Maritimers''' belong to the eastern and southern maritime world, particularly around Sarrivel and the waters of the [[Sigil:Crimson Coast|Crimson Coast]]. Many are olive-skinned and dark-haired, although generations of movement through the ports have made rigid descriptions increasingly unreliable.

They are sailors, fishers, boatwrights, merchants, pilots, dockworkers, smugglers, and corsairs. Their communities face toward the sea. Children learn the practical language of rope, wind, tide, and hull from an early age because ignorance aboard a vessel can kill everyone.

Maritimers have a reputation for passionate argument, strong shipboard loyalties, and suspicion of distant authority. An oath given aboard ship may matter more than a document drawn up by someone who has never left dry land.

The Crimson Coast has carried Maritimers far from their home harbors. Maritimer quarters can be found in ports well beyond the districts where they predominate.

Not every Maritimer is a [[Sigil:Red Reavers|Red Reaver]].

Quite a few would nevertheless know one.
