'''Ahriman''' is the villainous identity of '''Dr. Louis D'Argent''', a brilliant physician and occult renegade who commands the terrible power of Shadow. Educated, wealthy, and cultured, Ahriman presents himself as a man of refinement, but beneath that cultivated surface lies a hunger for domination.

== Origin ==

Louis D'Argent was born in the West Indies and displayed exceptional intelligence from an early age. He studied medicine at the Sorbonne, where his brilliance was matched only by his ambition. Even as he mastered the sciences of the body, he became fascinated by older and darker disciplines, pursuing occult studies alongside his formal education.

D'Argent was never content merely to heal or understand. He sought power over life, death, fear, and the hidden forces that move beneath the visible world.

After returning to his homeland, he learned of the awesome strength of darkness and sought out the Shadow power. His search brought him to the Sisters of Shadow, who instructed him in the use of that force.

== Renegade Of Shadow ==

The Sisters of Shadow understood Shadow as a force of balance: dangerous, necessary, and not to be wielded lightly. D'Argent rejected that teaching. To him, Shadow was not a balancing principle but a weapon, and weapons existed to be held by the strong.

Taking the name Ahriman, he turned his back on his teachers and became a renegade. His mastery of Shadow grew more ruthless and self-serving, shaped by his conviction that darkness should command rather than correct.

This break made him especially dangerous. Ahriman possesses both formal occult training and the arrogance to ignore its restraints.

== Mistral ==

Ahriman later attempted to recruit [[Crucible:Mistral|Mistral]] as his apprentice. He offered to tutor her, presenting himself as a mentor who could help her understand hidden forces beyond conventional heroism.

Mistral saw through the offer. She recognized the cruelty and ambition beneath his polished manner and refused him.

Her rejection made her an object of particular interest to Ahriman, who does not easily forgive defiance from those he believes should recognize his superiority.

== Shadowboxer ==

Ahriman employs a Shadow-enhanced bodyguard known as [[Crucible:Shadowboxer|Shadowboxer]]. Shadowboxer serves as both enforcer and shield, allowing Ahriman to act through a powerful intermediary when direct involvement would be inconvenient or beneath him.

Their partnership reflects Ahriman’s preferred method: he commands, others obey, and darkness moves where he points.

Ahriman sees himself not as a criminal, but as a man who has understood the truth of darkness and dared to use it properly.

Ahriman represents the corruption of wisdom into domination. Where the Sisters of Shadow teach discipline and balance, he teaches command. Where others fear darkness, he seeks to enthrone it.
