'''Clan Tengu''' is a feared and secretive brotherhood of cybernetic assassins whose name has become synonymous with silent death, impossible infiltration, and merciless precision. Operating from hidden enclaves across the Pacific Rim and beyond, the clan serves as one of the deadliest covert organizations in the modern world, selling its services to dictators, corporations, oligarchs, intelligence agencies, insurgent states, and criminal empires willing to pay its terrible price.

To most of the world, Clan Tengu exists only as rumor.

To those who move within the worlds of espionage, organized crime, and covert warfare, the clan is terrifyingly real.

Wherever political leaders die behind sealed security systems, where impossible assassinations occur without evidence, or where entire facilities are penetrated without triggering alarms, whispers of the Tengu soon follow.

== Origins ==

Clan Tengu traces its origins to ancient Japanese shinobi traditions, though the organization that exists today bears little resemblance to the historical clans from which it descended. Over centuries, the group evolved from a hidden martial order into something far darker and more radical: a synthesis of ritualized ninja doctrine and post-human technological enhancement.

The clan’s modern transformation began during the late twentieth century, when elements within the order embraced cybernetics, neural engineering, and advanced military technologies as the next stage of human evolution. To traditionalists, this represented sacrilege — the abandonment of discipline and spirit in favor of machinery. To the future Tengu, it represented perfection.

The resulting schism ignited a hidden conflict that continues into the present day.

== Operations ==

Clan Tengu maintains covert facilities scattered throughout the Pacific Rim, including hidden compounds in Japan, submerged temple-complexes off the Vietnamese coast, and fortified enclaves buried beneath the sprawling undercities of Southeast Asia.

The clan operates globally. Its agents have been linked to political assassinations, industrial sabotage, covert extractions, espionage campaigns, and targeted eliminations carried out on behalf of clients across the world.

Unlike ordinary mercenary groups, Clan Tengu approaches every operation as ritualized execution. Missions are meticulously planned, rehearsed, and encoded into the operative’s neural systems. Once deployed, a Tengu assassin becomes a singular instrument of purpose.

Failure is considered unacceptable.

== Augmentation And Training ==

Clan Tengu operatives are recruited primarily from orphanages, blacksites, warzones, criminal syndicates, and disaster regions where vulnerable children can disappear without notice. Survivors undergo years of brutal conditioning, psychological restructuring, cybernetic implantation, and martial training.

Those who survive emerge transformed into living weapons.

A fully initiated '''Karasu''' — or Raven — possesses reflexes, endurance, stealth capabilities, and combat awareness beyond normal human limits. Their bodies are reinforced with advanced cybernetics while their minds are conditioned for absolute obedience and emotional suppression.

Many operatives no longer consider themselves fully human.

== Technology And Weapons ==

Clan Tengu represents one of the most sophisticated fusions of ancient martial philosophy and advanced covert warfare technology in existence.

The mysterious grandmaster of the clan. Rumored to reside within a hidden cybernetic sanctuary known as '''The Hollow Peak''', the Oyatengu is rarely seen and possibly no longer entirely biological.

=== The Shichitengu ===

The Seven Elders who oversee the clan’s doctrines and operations. Each is associated with a specialized combat philosophy: Fire, Wind, Stone, Shadow, Circuitry, Sound, and Flesh.

=== The Karasu ===

Fully initiated field operatives and assassins. Their stylized avian masks incorporate advanced HUD systems, encrypted communications, and targeting interfaces.

=== The Kawatori ===

Initiates still undergoing transformation and training. Most perish before surviving the trials necessary to earn a Tengu mask.

== The Path Of Execution ==

Clan Tengu follows an uncompromising doctrine known as ''Shikkō no Michi'' — '''The Path of Execution'''. The code emphasizes silence, inevitability, discipline, and total commitment to mission completion.

Each operative carries a sealed neural implant containing their assignment parameters. Once activated, the operative becomes psychologically and chemically incapable of abandoning the mission voluntarily. Sleep suppression, pain inhibitors, psychotropic conditioning, and loyalty programming combine to create assassins who pursue their objectives with terrifying persistence.

To the Tengu, assassination is not murder.

It is sacred function.

== The Secret War ==

Clan Tengu’s greatest enemies are [[Crucible:Eight-Headed Shadow|The Eight-Headed Shadow]], a rival ninja order that rejects cybernetic augmentation and views the Tengu as corrupt abominations who have betrayed the ancient ways.

The conflict between the two organizations has continued for decades in secret, fought in neon-lit alleyways, aboard high-speed maglev trains, within offshore arcologies, and in forgotten ruins hidden beneath the Pacific.

To outside observers, these battles leave behind only unexplained deaths, shattered facilities, and missing operatives.

To the clans themselves, it is a war for the future of human evolution.

== Reputation ==

Even among supervillains, intelligence agencies, and covert operatives, Clan Tengu inspires deep unease. Governments fear becoming targets. Corporations fear employing them too often. Former clients occasionally disappear under mysterious circumstances.

The clan’s assassinations are rarely proven, but their signature is unmistakable:

A silent room.

A dead target.

And no trace of how the killer entered or escaped.
