They stopped laughing when I started tearing it down.” <br>— The Crab </div> The Crab is the armored criminal identity of Billy Krabowski, an unstable but gifted mechanic whose dream of revolutionizing construction technology collapsed into bitterness, destruction, and recurring conflict with the heroes of Unity City. == Origin == Billy Krabowski was a talented engineer and mechanic with grand ambitions for the future of construction and heavy industry. Frustrated by inefficiency and convinced that automation would transform urban development, he designed an advanced servo-assisted exoskeleton intended to multiply the capabilities of a single worker many times over. He called the system the CRAB—short for Construction Robot And Builder. Krabowski envisioned the suit as the foundation of a technological revolution. One operator equipped with a CRAB unit could perform the labor of entire crews, lifting massive loads and reshaping infrastructure with ease. Unfortunately for Krabowski, no one shared his enthusiasm. == Rejection And Collapse == Construction firms, investors, and city officials dismissed the CRAB project as impractical, dangerous, or financially unworkable. Some found Krabowski himself difficult to deal with, citing his erratic behavior and growing instability. To Billy, the rejection was unforgivable. If the city would not let him build its future, then he would demonstrate exactly what his creation was capable of by tearing the city apart instead. And once they understood how badly they needed him? Maybe then he would rebuild it. == The Crab Emerges == Outfitting himself with the servo-armor, Krabowski became The Crab, using the machine’s immense strength and durability to rampage through Unity City. His attacks initially appeared random, but they quickly revealed a pattern: construction sites, infrastructure projects, and public works were frequent targets. His first major defeat came at the hands of the Unity League, but incarceration and setbacks did little to diminish his obsession. The Crab became a recurring menace throughout the Silver Age, returning repeatedly with upgraded systems and increasingly destructive schemes. == The Fearsome Five == Recognizing both Krabowski’s technical brilliance and his usefulness as a heavy assault operative, Brainwave recruited him into the Fearsome Five. Within the group, The Crab served as its powerhouse engineer—a figure capable not only of smashing through obstacles, but also maintaining and modifying advanced equipment. Though less intellectually disciplined than Brainwave, Krabowski’s intuitive grasp of mechanics made him invaluable. == Skills == Billy Krabowski is an exceptional mechanical talent. * Genius-level mechanic and engineer * Skilled designer of heavy industrial systems * Expert operator of vehicles and machinery * Capable field technician and improviser His technical instincts often exceed his formal discipline. == Technology == The CRAB armor is an advanced servo-mechanical exosuit. * Massive enhanced strength * Exceptional durability and protection * Integrated offensive and defensive systems * Heavy industrial manipulation capability Though originally intended for construction, the armor was quickly adapted for combat and destruction. == Personality == Krabowski is volatile, emotional, and deeply resentful of the institutions that dismissed him. Beneath his anger lies a genuine belief that he could have changed the world for the better if anyone had given him the chance. That conviction has curdled into bitterness. He alternates between wanting recognition for his genius and wanting revenge against the society that ignored it. In quieter moments, he can still speak passionately about architecture, engineering, and urban renewal—as though the destructive persona of the Crab is merely a detour from the future he imagined. But the detour has lasted a very long time. == Legacy == The Crab became one of the defining technological threats of the Silver Age, a villain whose destructive rampages reflected both the optimism and anxieties of an era fascinated by machinery and industrial progress. He wanted to build the future. When the future rejected him, he decided demolition would have to do instead. </div> CCNav
