Usually right before I hit ‘em with it.” <br>— Flint </div> Flint is the criminal identity of Frederick Rubble, a massively powerful parahuman brute whose immense strength and durability made him one of the most physically dangerous villains operating in Unity City during the Silver Age. Though lacking the sophistication of many super-criminals, Flint’s sheer power and stubborn resilience earned him a lasting reputation as one of the city’s most feared heavy hitters and a longtime member of the Marauders. == Background == Frederick Rubble was born on an isolated farm in the American West located downwind from one of the government’s early atomic testing ranges. Whether due to radiation exposure, latent genetic mutation, or some combination of the two, Fred was born profoundly altered. Even as an infant he displayed abnormal size, strength, and appetite. As he grew older, the changes became impossible to hide. Fred developed rapidly into a towering, massively built adolescent with tremendous physical power, extraordinary stamina, and near-superhuman resistance to injury. Life on the farm became increasingly difficult. The family struggled to feed him, neighbors regarded him with fear, and Fred himself gradually came to view the outside world as hostile territory. At thirteen years old, he finally ran away. == Arrival In Unity City == Fred drifted eastward until eventually arriving in Unity City, where his size and strength quickly drew the attention of local criminals. Living largely through intimidation, theft, and gang activity, he adopted the street name Flint and became a familiar figure in the city’s underworld. Though not especially intelligent or strategic, Flint possessed exactly the qualities many criminal organizations needed: enormous strength, fearlessness, and willingness to smash almost anything placed in front of him. It was only a matter of time before supervillains took notice. == The Marauders == Flint eventually came to the attention of the manipulative villain Mesmerio, who recruited him into the super-criminal group known as the Marauders. Within the team, Flint served as its primary powerhouse, relied upon whenever brute force, intimidation, or raw destruction became necessary. His repeated clashes with the Unity League established him as one of the city’s classic superhuman bruisers. Though heroes could often outthink him, physically stopping Flint was another matter entirely. Entire buildings sometimes suffered in the attempt. == Powers == Flint is among the physically strongest individuals operating in Unity City. * Immense superhuman strength * Extraordinary durability and resistance to injury * Incredible stamina and endurance * Enhanced size and musculature * Exceptional resistance to fatigue and pain Flint’s powers are entirely physical in nature, but their scale makes him extraordinarily dangerous. == Skills == Flint possesses little formal training or education. * Street fighting experience * Criminal intimidation * Remarkable toughness and persistence His greatest “skill” is simple direct force. As Flint himself would likely admit, subtlety is not really his department. == Personality == Despite his fearsome reputation, Flint is not especially malicious by supervillain standards. He is blunt, simple, easily manipulated, and often more interested in immediate comforts than grand criminal schemes. Years of being feared, mocked, or used by others left him with a deep insecurity that he generally hides beneath aggression and bravado. More intelligent villains often underestimate him, mistaking lack of sophistication for lack of awareness. In reality, Flint understands very well that most people see him as a monster or a weapon rather than a person. Unfortunately, violence is the role he learned best. == Legacy == Flint became one of the defining powerhouse villains of the Silver Age, remembered less for elaborate schemes than for spectacular brawls and catastrophic levels of collateral damage. As a member of the Marauders, he helped establish the template for many later super-strong villains who relied on brute force rather than intellect or technology. And somewhere beneath the muscle, rage, and wreckage remains the lonely runaway kid who once fled a desert farm looking for someplace he might belong. </div> CCNav
