'''The Fly''' is the cybernetic criminal identity of '''Henry Fudd''', a brilliant but psychologically shattered cyberneticist whose obsessive experiments in artificial perception transformed him into one of the strangest technological villains of the modern era. After overwhelming his own mind with experimental compound-eye implants modeled on insect vision, Fudd descended into paranoia and madness, gradually rebuilding himself into a grotesque cybernetic imitation of a common house fly.

The result is horrifying.

And deeply pathetic.

== Henry Fudd ==

Before his collapse, Henry Fudd was considered an exceptionally gifted specialist in cybernetics, neural interfaces, and sensory augmentation systems. Quiet, intense, and notoriously obsessive, Fudd devoted his career to expanding the limits of human perception through direct machine integration.

He believed ordinary human senses were inefficient evolutionary leftovers.

Machines could do better.

Unfortunately, the human brain was never designed to process what Fudd attempted to force into it.

== The Compound Eye Experiments ==

Fudd’s breakthrough project involved artificial '''compound-eye''' systems modeled after insect sensory structures. Unlike ordinary human vision, insect perception processes thousands of simultaneous visual inputs at extraordinary speeds.

Fudd became convinced that integrating such systems directly into the human nervous system would create a radically enhanced form of awareness and reaction time.

Technically, he succeeded.

Psychologically, the results were catastrophic.

The sheer volume of visual information overwhelmed Fudd’s brain almost immediately. Depth perception fractured. Motion became unbearable. Every light source smeared into impossible patterns. Ordinary human environments became oceans of movement and sensory overload.

The process shattered his sanity.

And he kept going anyway.

== Becoming The Fly ==

Unable or unwilling to stop, Fudd continued modifying himself obsessively, adding new cybernetic systems intended to “complete” his transformation and stabilize his altered perceptions.

Instead, he spiraled deeper into delusion.

By the time authorities discovered his hidden workshop, Henry Fudd had transformed himself into '''the Fly''' — a grotesque cybernetic figure equipped with transparent synthetic wings, sensory implants, enhanced reflex systems, and insect-inspired augmentations designed to emulate the common house fly as completely as possible.

Then he disappeared into the criminal underworld.

== The Buzzing ==

Eventually, the Fly gravitated toward [[Crucible:The Vermin|the Vermin]], a loose gathering of grotesque outcasts, mutants, monsters, and chemically damaged criminals who accepted him more readily than normal society ever could.

Within the Vermin, Fudd found something approaching belonging.

Even if most of his teammates found him profoundly unsettling.

He has also occasionally worked with [[Crucible:Squad 13|Squad 13]], usually in situations requiring technical expertise or infiltration capabilities.

Though several members reportedly refuse to share enclosed transport with him because of the constant buzzing.

== Powers And Abilities ==

The Fly possesses no innate superhuman abilities, but his extensive cybernetic modifications grant him extraordinary physical and sensory capabilities.

These include:

The fact that he continues augmenting himself anyway suggests that somewhere inside, Henry Fudd still believes he can fix what he has become.

He almost certainly cannot.

The Fly became one of the strangest cybernetic villains of the modern era, blending body horror, technological obsession, insect imagery, and tragic madness into a recurring member of the Crucible underworld.

Because Henry Fudd wanted to expand human perception.

Instead, he built himself a cage of buzzing machinery he can never escape.
