'''Goblin''' is a chaotic interdimensional entity connected to the incomprehensible cosmic intelligence known as [[Crucible:The Terror|the Terror]]. Existing as the cruel counterpart to the benevolent being [[Crucible:Poltergeist|Poltergeist]], Goblin accompanied [[Crucible:The Stormriders|the Stormriders]] during their search for his wayward twin and later remained stranded on Earth after the Terror’s defeat.

Though often behaving like a mischievous trickster, Goblin is one of the most reality-warping and unpredictable beings ever encountered by [[Crucible:Watchstar|Watchstar]] and other heroes of Earth-11717.

== Origin ==

Goblin and [[Crucible:Poltergeist|Poltergeist]] are not siblings in any ordinary biological sense. Both are fragments or expressions of the immense multidimensional consciousness known as [[Crucible:The Terror|the Terror]], split into distinct personalities that somehow developed individuality independent of the greater entity.

Where Poltergeist embodies curiosity, empathy, and childlike wonder, Goblin represents cruelty, chaos, mockery, and destructive amusement.

The exact reason for this division remains unknown.

Some theorists believe the Terror unconsciously sheds aspects of itself as it moves through dimensions. Others suspect Poltergeist and Goblin are fragments of emotions the Terror itself cannot fully comprehend.

Whatever the truth, the two entities possess a strange and deeply intertwined bond.

== The Stormriders ==

Goblin first arrived on Earth alongside [[Crucible:The Stormriders|the Stormriders]], who had been dispatched by the Terror to locate the missing Poltergeist. Unlike the more disciplined and militaristic Stormriders, however, Goblin appeared to view the mission primarily as entertainment.

Throughout the conflict, Goblin tormented heroes and civilians alike with bizarre displays of reality distortion that shifted unpredictably between comedy and horror. Entire environments transformed into impossible landscapes governed by nonsensical logic. Physical laws bent or vanished altogether in his presence.

Following the Terror’s defeat and withdrawal from Earth’s dimension, Goblin remained behind for reasons that are still unclear.

Perhaps he was abandoned.

Perhaps he chose to stay.

With Goblin, the difference is hard to determine.

== Powers ==

Goblin’s abilities appear functionally limitless and operate according to no clearly understood scientific or magical principles.

Among his demonstrated abilities:

* Matter transformation  
* Shapechanging  
* Instantaneous object creation  
* Dimensional manipulation  
* Energy projection  
* Environmental alteration  
* Apparent immunity to conventional harm  

Goblin’s powers often manifest in absurd, theatrical, or prank-like forms. He might create giant rubber objects, transform into impossible creatures, rewrite gravity, or summon bizarre materials such as massive walls of gelatin strong enough to function as forcefields.

The childish appearance of these effects should not be mistaken for harmlessness.

Goblin’s “jokes” can level buildings and kill people.

== Personality ==

Goblin is playful, malicious, unpredictable, and deeply alien. Unlike many villains motivated by conquest or ideology, Goblin seems driven primarily by amusement, curiosity, and emotional impulse. He delights in embarrassment, fear, confusion, and humiliation, often treating reality itself as a toy box meant for his entertainment.

At times he resembles a cruel child with unimaginable power.

At others he seems disturbingly aware of far greater cosmic truths than human beings are meant to understand.

His relationship with [[Crucible:Poltergeist|Poltergeist]] is especially complicated. Goblin alternates between tormenting, mocking, protecting, and pursuing his twin with an emotional intensity suggesting that, beneath the cruelty, some genuine connection still exists.

== Legacy ==

Goblin became one of the strangest and most unnerving entities of the Alternate Age, remembered for stories that blended surreal comedy with cosmic horror. His appearances often left heroes unsure whether they were confronting a villain, a force of nature, or a living breakdown of reality itself.

Because with Goblin, the terrifying part is not that the rules stop making sense.

The terrifying part is that he thinks that is funny.
