You only learn how sacred it is when something breaks out.”
— Janos Diamantis
== Background == Born in Greece and later becoming a citizen of the United States, Commander Janos Diamantis rose through the ranks of PHASE II to become one of the organization’s most experienced and unconventional field leaders. Diamantis built his reputation through a combination of audacity, instinct, and an almost supernatural willingness to ignore conventional procedure whenever he believed results demanded it. Although many senior officials within PHASE II have found him infuriating over the years, few can argue with his success rate. He genuinely loves his work and thrives in chaotic situations that would overwhelm more cautious commanders. His operational philosophy often involves taking ideas so far outside accepted procedure that, as one colleague famously remarked, “you can’t even see the box anymore.” Diamantis is best known as the creator and operational overseer of Squad 13, a highly irregular PHASE II unit assembled for missions too dangerous, politically sensitive, or outright bizarre for standard deployment teams. Under his administration, Squad 13 developed a reputation as the organization’s unofficial expendable problem-solvers. Years of stress, field operations, and terrible habits have taken a visible toll on Diamantis. He is a relentless chain smoker and no longer possesses the physical conditioning of his younger years, though few would dare suggest retirement to his face. == Skills And Personality == Janos Diamantis is a veteran PHASE II operative with extensive experience in intelligence operations, crisis management, unconventional warfare, and command leadership. He is particularly noted for his ability to improvise under pressure and to identify unusual solutions overlooked by more rigid thinkers. Diamantis is charismatic, cynical, reckless, manipulative, and deeply protective of the people under his command. While he often appears disorganized or chaotic, those who know him well understand that he is almost always thinking several moves ahead. == Notes == Commander Diamantis became one of the defining authority figures associated with the darker, more dangerous side of the Modern Age superhero world, particularly stories involving covert operations, deniable missions, and morally complicated assignments.
