The nickname originated during her military service under Skye’s father, where Lyla earned a reputation for being able to repair almost anything under impossible field conditions. If it was broken, Patch could fix it. Lyla and Skye eventually became extremely close friends and roommates following their military careers. Unfortunately for Skye’s carefully maintained secret identity, Lyla also happened to be intensely curious and exceptionally nosy. It did not take her long to discover that her roommate was secretly operating as the vigilante Dark Angel. Rather than being frightened away, Lyla enthusiastically volunteered to help. She soon became the primary pilot of Dark Angel’s heavily modified helicopter, the Archangel, establishing a partnership that would become central to many of Dark Angel’s operations. Calm under pressure and fiercely loyal, Patch repeatedly proved herself invaluable during high-risk missions involving supervillains, criminal organizations, and urban warfare. On several occasions, Lyla has even temporarily assumed the identity of Dark Angel herself when Skye was unable to operate publicly, successfully maintaining the illusion that the vigilante remained active. == Skills And Personality == Patch is an exceptionally skilled pilot qualified on numerous helicopters and small aircraft. Her military background also provided her with experience in weapons handling, tactical operations, and field repair work. Beyond her piloting abilities, Lyla possesses extensive practical mechanical knowledge and an instinctive talent for improvising repairs in the field. She is sarcastic, fearless, practical, and deeply loyal to her friends. While often more openly approachable than Skye, she is equally capable of handling dangerous situations when necessary. == Notes == Patch became an important supporting figure in the DARK ANGEL series, representing the trusted civilian ally who helps make a street-level vigilante operation function behind the scenes.
