Montgomery Barone spent most of his early life fascinated by toys, puzzles, animation, and mechanical gadgets. Exceptionally intelligent and creatively gifted, Monty designed wildly inventive toys that combined entertainment with astonishing engineering sophistication.

Unfortunately, he was also regarded as deeply eccentric.

Barone approached toy design less as business and more as obsessive artistry. He constantly revised products, rebuilt prototypes, and developed elaborate concepts far beyond what most companies considered commercially practical. While children adored his ideas, executives often viewed him as difficult, obsessive, and unstable.

Monty did not care.

He only wanted to make people smile.

== Television Fame ==

For a time, Barone achieved moderate success through a New York-based children’s cartoon and variety program built around his toy creations and manic creative personality.

The show became a cult hit among younger audiences.

Behind the scenes, however, financial pressures and corporate interference steadily undermined the production. Matters worsened catastrophically when Barone discovered that executives connected to a massive toy corporation had appropriated many of his inventions and designs without compensation.

Then, during the Christmas season — the period most important to both his business and emotional identity — the network cancelled his show entirely.

Something inside Monty snapped.

== Birth Of Monkeybone ==

Consumed by humiliation, betrayal, and resentment, Barone reinvented himself as '''Monkeybone''', a theatrical criminal mastermind dedicated to punishing the corporations, executives, and society he believed had stolen his life’s work.

He converted abandoned warehouses and toy factories into bizarre laboratories filled with weaponized novelty devices and robotic creations. Former prop designers, stunt performers, costumers, and technical workers from his television days gradually became loyal members of his criminal gang.

Soon New York faced crimes unlike anything authorities had encountered before.

Armored teddy bears attacked armored cars.

Mechanical clown dolls planted explosives.

Remote-controlled toy tanks rampaged through department stores.

Rubber ducks became instruments of terror.

Monkeybone found the whole thing hilarious.

== Criminal Operations ==

Unlike conventional organized criminals, Monkeybone treats crime as performance art mixed with psychological revenge. His robberies, sabotage campaigns, and attacks are often staged theatrically around holidays, toy conventions, television broadcasts, or corporate events.

He especially enjoys humiliating wealthy executives publicly.

Though his crimes can become extremely lethal, Monkeybone often retains an odd sense of childlike playfulness beneath the madness. Many of his devices are deliberately colorful, whimsical, and absurdly overengineered.

Which only makes them more unsettling when they start killing people.

== Personality ==

Monkeybone is theatrical, obsessive, vindictive, and deeply emotionally wounded beneath his manic humor. He alternates unpredictably between childlike enthusiasm, playful sarcasm, and terrifying rage.

Unlike nihilistic killers, Monkeybone genuinely believes creativity and joy matter enormously.

He simply also believes the world deserves punishment for corrupting them.

He often frames his crimes as lessons directed at greedy corporations, dishonest executives, and cynical adults who “forgot how to play.” At times, this twisted philosophy makes him oddly sympathetic despite the chaos and destruction he causes.

Then the killer teddy bears arrive.

And sympathy usually fades quickly.

== Legacy ==

Monkeybone became one of the strangest and most visually distinctive villains of the modern era, particularly associated with [[Crucible:The Night Shift|The Night Shift]] and New York’s darker corners. His stories blended black comedy, technological absurdity, tragic obsession, and surreal toy-themed horror into a uniquely memorable supervillain identity.

Because Montgomery Barone never stopped being a toymaker.
