Creator | Ed Messina |} <div class="cc-quote"> “The world calls it madness whenever genius becomes ambitious.” <br>— Professor Strong </div> Professor Strong is the criminal identity of Harmony Desdemona Strong, a brilliant British scientist and polymath whose groundbreaking research into advanced sciences repeatedly placed her at odds with governments, intelligence agencies, and the superhero team known as the Ministry. One of the most versatile scientific minds of the Silver Age, Strong became infamous for creating technologies capable of reshaping weather patterns, manipulating psionic energy, and destabilizing global security itself. Unlike many scientists who stumbled accidentally into villainy, Harmony Strong embraced the role willingly. To her, genius entitled one to power. == Early Life == Harmony Desdemona Strong was born into an intellectually gifted British family and displayed extraordinary scientific aptitude almost immediately. By adolescence she had already surpassed university-level understanding in several disciplines, eventually earning doctorates in physics, chemistry, biology, and related fields while still unusually young. Her brilliance attracted both admiration and concern. Strong’s colleagues frequently described her as charismatic, dazzlingly intelligent, and deeply impatient with ordinary limitations — intellectual, political, or moral. Even before becoming a criminal, Harmony believed governments and institutions slowed scientific progress out of fear. == Scientific Career == During the Silver Age, Professor Strong became known internationally for research into fields most scientists considered either impossible or dangerously theoretical. Her work included: * Psionic amplification * Teleportation systems * Exotic energy physics * Weather manipulation * Advanced biochemical engineering Some of her discoveries proved decades ahead of mainstream science. Others should arguably never have existed at all. Strong developed a reputation for crossing ethical boundaries whenever they interfered with experimentation. Though outwardly polished and sophisticated, she increasingly viewed humanity as intellectually inferior and unworthy of controlling the technologies she created. == The Weather Control Crisis == Professor Strong first emerged publicly as a supervillain after constructing a revolutionary weather-control device capable of manipulating storms, atmospheric pressure, and climate conditions on a massive scale. Believing world governments would inevitably weaponize or suppress her invention, Strong decided to weaponize it herself first. She attempted to extort multiple governments simultaneously by threatening catastrophic weather events unless vast payments and political concessions were granted to her. The resulting crisis brought her into direct conflict with the Ministry, who ultimately foiled her plans after a series of battles involving artificial hurricanes, atmospheric disruptions, and large-scale climatic chaos. The defeat only deepened Strong’s resentment toward established authority. == Rivalry With The Ministry == Professor Strong became one of the recurring scientific enemies of the Ministry, returning repeatedly with increasingly ambitious schemes involving advanced technology, psionic experimentation, and dangerous scientific breakthroughs. Her relationship with the team carried additional personal complexity because of her connection to her sister, Chastity Strong, whose moral outlook sharply contrasted with Harmony’s growing arrogance and obsession with intellectual superiority. Though the sisters cared for one another at times, their ideological divide became nearly impossible to bridge. == Skills == Professor Strong possesses one of the broadest scientific skill sets of any villain of the Silver Age. Her expertise includes: * Physics * Chemistry * Biology * Psionic theory * Atmospheric science * Teleportation systems * Advanced engineering Unlike many comic-book scientists who specialize narrowly, Strong is depicted as a true polymath capable of mastering almost any scientific discipline she studies. This versatility makes her extraordinarily unpredictable. == Personality == Professor Strong is brilliant, cultured, ambitious, and deeply convinced that intellectual greatness justifies extraordinary authority. She sees most governments as incompetent and most people as intellectually limited. To Strong, scientific progress should not require permission from lesser minds. Unlike cackling mad scientists, Harmony usually behaves with calm sophistication and dry wit. She often appears more irritated than enraged, as though the world’s inability to appreciate her genius is merely exhausting. At the same time, her arrogance blinds her to the human consequences of her experiments and schemes. This makes her dangerous not because she hates humanity — but because she increasingly sees herself as above it. == Legacy == Professor Strong became one of the defining scientific villains of the Silver Age and a recurring enemy of the Ministry. Her stories blended speculative science, Cold War paranoia, atmospheric catastrophes, and “super-science mastermind” tropes into classic Silver Age adventure narratives. Because Harmony Strong never wanted simple wealth or revenge. She wanted the world to recognize that the smartest person in the room should be the one in charge. And she was absolutely certain that person was her. </div> CCNav
