== Background ==

Born in Mexico, Napoleon Ricardo “Rico” Salazar is one of the primary technical specialists supporting [[Crucible:Watchstar|Watchstar]]. Brilliant, energetic, and endlessly enthusiastic about his work, Rico quickly became one of the most well-liked members of the organization’s support staff.

Before joining Watchstar, Rico worked for [[Crucible:Tech|Techtronics]], the advanced technology corporation founded by [[Crucible:Tech|Simon Matthews]]. There he specialized in cybersecurity, systems engineering, and advanced network architecture, earning a reputation as a gifted white-hat hacker and security consultant.

Rico later transitioned into a direct support role for Watchstar operations, where his technical expertise proved invaluable in maintaining communications, monitoring security systems, analyzing threats, and coordinating information across the organization’s global infrastructure.

Although he lacks superpowers himself, Rico is regarded by the team as one of the indispensable civilian specialists who help keep Watchstar functioning.

In the alternate future timeline known as [[Crucible:Watchstar 2020|Watchstar 2020]], Rico eventually assumed the identity of [[Crucible:Protector|Protector]], inheriting the armor and legacy associated with one of Earth’s greatest heroes.

Rico is a technological prodigy who entered university at the age of fourteen. He possesses degrees in computer science and electrical engineering and demonstrates expertise in cybersecurity, software systems, encryption, and electronic infrastructure.

He also possesses an eidetic memory, allowing him to recall enormous amounts of technical and visual information with exceptional precision.

Outside his professional work, Rico enjoys high-energy recreational activities such as jetskiing and parasailing. He also has a fondness for creating elaborate puzzles and intellectual challenges for friends and coworkers to solve.

Rico is upbeat, friendly, intellectually restless, and genuinely excited to be part of the superhero world he once admired from afar.
