CCHeader <div class="codex-page codex-page--crucible-comics cc-page--location"> = Free Republic Of Transasia = The Free Republic of Transasia is an authoritarian state carved out of a vast, frozen region of eastern Siberia during the early . Despite its official name, Transasia is neither meaningfully free nor meaningfully republican. It was founded by the supervillain Doctor Omega, who conquered an enormous stretch of barren territory with a private high-tech military force and declared it a sovereign nation. Since its founding, Transasia has been ruled with an iron fist. Its government ruthlessly exploits the region’s oil reserves, mineral wealth, strategic isolation, and forced industrial capacity. It is one of the most dangerous rogue states in the world: heavily armed, technologically aggressive, diplomatically hostile, and protected by a political system designed to make Doctor Omega’s will indistinguishable from national law. == Founding == Transasia was born not through revolution, treaty, or peaceful independence, but conquest. During the early Modern Age, Doctor Omega moved into eastern Siberia with a technologically advanced military force of mercenaries and supervillains, seizing control of isolated settlements, military remnants, resource facilities, airfields, rail corridors, and extraction zones. The region’s remoteness made coordinated resistance difficult, and Doctor Omega exploited confusion, harsh weather, and international hesitation with brutal efficiency. Within months, he had transformed a barely governed expanse into a fortified super-state. He declared the new nation the Free Republic of Transasia, installed loyal commanders, nationalized all natural resources, and reorganized the population under emergency security authority. The “free republic” was presented to the world as a bold new state of scientific modernity and national self-determination. In reality, it was the personal domain of a supervillain. == Geography And Resources == Transasia occupies a huge, frigid, and sparsely populated portion of eastern Siberia. Much of the country is tundra, taiga, permafrost, mountains, frozen rivers, industrial zones, military reservations, and resource settlements built where no city would naturally choose to grow. Winters are long, violent, and politically useful. The land itself serves as a defensive barrier against invasion, rebellion, and escape. Beneath this harsh surface lie vast reserves of oil, natural gas, rare minerals, strategic metals, and other extractive wealth. Transasia’s economy is built on digging, drilling, refining, smelting, transporting, weaponizing, and selling what the land contains. Environmental protections are minimal. Worker protections are worse. Doctor Omega’s regime has used this wealth to fund an enormous military apparatus, advanced weapons programs, private laboratories, internal security systems, and diplomatic influence among states and organizations willing to look away from Transasia’s crimes in exchange for resources or technology. == Government == Transasia is officially governed by republican institutions, including ministries, councils, courts, security directorates, and a national assembly. In practice, these bodies exist to ratify Doctor Omega’s decisions, enforce his policies, and provide a ceremonial costume for dictatorship. The state is highly centralized, militarized, and surveilled. Regional administrators answer to the capital. Military governors oversee strategic zones. Internal security forces monitor the population, industry, press, communications, and foreign visitors. Opposition parties are illegal, irrelevant, or state-manufactured. Elections, when held, produce the correct result with impressive punctuality. Transasian propaganda celebrates discipline, technological destiny, national strength, and freedom from “decadent foreign weakness.” The official story portrays Doctor Omega as founder, protector, scientist-statesman, and visionary architect of a new civilization. Citizens are expected to believe this with visible enthusiasm. == Doctor Omega's Rule == Doctor Omega remains the central figure in Transasian life. His portrait hangs in schools, factories, military bases, government offices, and scientific institutes. His speeches are broadcast as doctrine. His inventions are described as gifts to the nation. His enemies are described as enemies of progress itself. Doctor Omega’s rule combines supervillain ambition with state power. Where other criminals must hide lairs, smuggle weapons, or bribe officials, he possesses laboratories, armies, factories, borders, diplomats, and legal codes. Transasia gives him the resources of a nation and the secrecy of a dictatorship. His long-term goals remain the subject of international concern. Some analysts believe Transasia is merely his fortress-state, designed to fund his schemes and shield him from capture. Others believe the nation itself is the experiment: a society reorganized around obedience, technological militarism, and the belief that human freedom is inefficient. == Military Power == Transasia maintains a huge standing army disproportionate to its population. Its forces include conventional infantry, armored divisions, aerospace units, drone swarms, cyberwarfare teams, artillery formations, special operations units, and advanced weapons platforms derived from Doctor Omega’s own technology. The Transasian military is built for intimidation, territorial defense, and rapid offensive action. Its equipment is rugged, heavily armed, and often experimental. Foreign observers have reported powered armor cadres, autonomous war machines, energy artillery, stealth transports, weather-hardened aircraft, and battlefield systems that appear to blur the line between conventional military hardware and supervillain technology. The army’s loyalty is maintained through privilege, indoctrination, fear, and internal competition. Elite units enjoy better living conditions and access to advanced equipment, but are watched closely by security officers. No general is allowed to become popular enough to challenge the founder. == Threat To World Peace == Transasia has been a constant threat to world peace since its creation. Its government engages in arms trafficking, resource coercion, cyberattacks, proxy conflicts, espionage, illegal weapons development, and diplomatic brinkmanship. Its embassies often function as intelligence stations. Its corporations are widely suspected of serving as fronts for state security and Doctor Omega’s private projects. The country’s combination of natural resources, military strength, and authoritarian secrecy makes it difficult to contain. Sanctions have hurt the civilian population more than the ruling elite. Diplomatic pressure is ignored unless backed by force. Military action is complicated by geography, climate, fortified infrastructure, and the risk that Doctor Omega may possess retaliatory weapons unknown to outside intelligence. To many world leaders, Transasia is not simply another hostile state. It is a supervillain lair with a flag, a seat at certain international tables, and enough oil money to buy patience from the unscrupulous. == The Invasion Of Isola == Transasia’s most notorious act of aggression was its unprovoked invasion of the peaceful Pacific nation of Isola. The attack was driven by strategic ambition, resource hunger, and Transasia’s desire to seize or neutralize Isola’s advanced technology, particularly breakthroughs linked to reverse-engineered Karnak systems. The invasion shocked the world. Isola, though technologically advanced, was not an expansionist power and had not posed a military threat to Transasia. The assault revealed the full danger of Doctor Omega’s regime: a state willing to project force across vast distances to seize technological advantage and terrorize smaller nations. The conflict became one of the defining international crises of the Modern Age. Watchstar was called in to help defend Isola, leading to a tremendous battle for Isolan freedom. Transasia’s defeat did not end its hostility, but it damaged its prestige, exposed weaknesses in its expeditionary doctrine, and confirmed that the world could not ignore the regime. == Haven For Criminals And Mercenaries == Transasia has long served as a haven for international criminals, mercenaries, arms dealers, rogue scientists, fugitives, smugglers, and political extremists. The government refuses to honor extradition treaties with most nations, especially when the fugitive in question possesses useful skills, money, technology, intelligence, or enemies in the West. This policy is not ideological mercy. It is recruitment. Transasia offers sanctuary in exchange for service. Criminal engineers work in state laboratories. Mercenaries train local forces. Former intelligence officers advise security services. Supervillains sell designs, hide assets, or maintain safe houses under government protection. In some cases, fugitives discover too late that “asylum” in Transasia is only another word for ownership. The result is a dangerous underworld ecosystem protected by sovereign borders. Someone wanted by half the world may vanish into Transasia and reappear months later with a military contract, a new identity, and better weapons. == Life In Transasia == Life for ordinary citizens in Transasia is harsh. The regime promises order, employment, national strength, and technological progress, but daily existence is shaped by surveillance, propaganda, shortages, environmental damage, military priorities, and fear of the security services. Resource towns and industrial cities are functional but grim. Housing is utilitarian. Public art glorifies labor, science, soldiers, and Doctor Omega. Schools emphasize technical education, obedience, and patriotic history. Travel is regulated. Dissent is dangerous. Foreign media is restricted. Citizens learn to speak carefully and listen for the room before expressing doubt. Yet Transasia is not a land of faceless victims. Its people include workers, engineers, soldiers, teachers, families, dissidents, collaborators, black marketeers, loyalists, and quiet survivors. Some believe the propaganda. Some hate the regime. Many simply endure, as people have always endured powerful rulers in cold countries with long memories. == International Status == Transasia’s status in world affairs is deliberately uncomfortable. Some nations refuse to recognize its legitimacy. Others maintain limited diplomatic relations because of energy needs, security concerns, or fear of pushing the regime into greater aggression. International bodies debate sanctions, inspections, condemnations, and negotiations, while Transasian diplomats deny every accusation with polished contempt. The regime’s official name, the Free Republic of Transasia, is often used in formal documents, but journalists, intelligence analysts, and superheroes rarely repeat it without irony. The gap between the name and the reality is too large to ignore. == Reputation == Transasia is feared as a rogue state, condemned as a dictatorship, courted for its resources, and watched as one of the great geopolitical dangers of the Modern Age. To its supporters, it is a fortress of strength and scientific destiny. To its victims, it is a prison-state built on oil, cold, and fear. To the superhero community, it is one of the few places where supervillainy has successfully taken national form. The Free Republic of Transasia remains a grim warning: sometimes a villain does not need to hide in a mountain base, an island fortress, or a secret laboratory. Sometimes he raises a flag, declares a border, and dares the world to do something about it. </div> CCNav
