'''Venom''' is the supervillain identity of '''Elias Kobra''', a radicalized [[Crucible:Parahumans|parahuman]] mutant whose serpentine physiology, lethal toxin generation, and expertise in explosives made him one of the most feared anti-human extremists of the modern era. Though originally inspired by the revolutionary rhetoric of [[Crucible:Black Sun|Black Sun]] and later associated briefly with [[Crucible:Factor M|Factor M]], Venom eventually became too violent and genocidal even for most organized parahuman movements.

To Elias Kobra, coexistence failed long ago.

Now only survival matters.

== Early Life ==

Elias Kobra was born visibly different from ordinary humans. His parahuman mutation gave him reptilian physical traits from an early age, including altered eyes, unusual skin texture, enhanced reflexes, and other unsettling physiological markers that made hiding his nature nearly impossible.

Childhood for Elias was brutal.

He suffered constant harassment, fear, mockery, and violence from classmates and adults alike. Teachers avoided him. Parents warned their children about him. Rumors spread constantly regarding what he supposedly was.

Over time, humiliation hardened into hatred.

Unlike some parahumans who sought acceptance, Elias gradually stopped believing ordinary humanity would ever permit people like him to live peacefully.

== Radicalization ==

As anti-parahuman tensions escalated during the modern era, Elias became deeply influenced by the rhetoric of [[Crucible:Black Sun|Black Sun]], whose militant defense of parahuman rights resonated powerfully with him.

To Elias, Black Sun was not a terrorist.

He was proof that someone finally understood.

Venom embraced increasingly extremist ideas, eventually concluding that peaceful coexistence between humans and parahumans was impossible. In his view, humanity’s fear and cruelty guaranteed eventual persecution unless parahumans struck first and decisively.

This ideology pushed him even beyond the boundaries of [[Crucible:Factor M|Factor M]].

== Separation From Factor M ==

Although Venom briefly associated with [[Crucible:Factor M|Factor M]], his methods and beliefs quickly alarmed even hardened parahuman radicals. While Factor M generally framed itself as a revolutionary movement for mutant survival and political power, Venom advocated mass casualty attacks and openly discussed reducing the human population through terror and biological warfare.

Even [[Crucible:Claw|Claw]] reportedly considered him dangerously unstable.

Venom eventually separated from the organization and pursued his own agenda independently.

Which made him even harder to predict.

== Powers ==

Venom possesses a range of reptilian and parahuman abilities including:

* Superhuman agility and reflexes  
* Enhanced senses  
* Superhuman strength and durability  
* Venom and toxin generation  
* Enhanced flexibility and coordination  
* Resistance to poisons and toxins  

His toxin-producing biology is particularly dangerous. Venom can secrete lethal poisons capable of incapacitating or killing opponents rapidly depending on dosage and delivery method.

Combined with his stealth and agility, this makes close combat with him extremely hazardous.

== Skills ==

Elias Kobra is highly intelligent and technically skilled.

His expertise includes:

* Mechanical engineering  
* Electronics  
* Explosives and demolitions  
* Improvised bomb construction  
* Poisons and toxins  
* Basic genetics research  

Much of his scientific knowledge was self-taught or developed while incarcerated, where he reportedly spent years studying chemistry, biology, and explosive design obsessively.

Venom’s attacks often involve careful planning and devastating sabotage rather than simple brute force.

== Technology ==

Venom supplements his natural abilities with specialized criminal technology.

His equipment includes:

* Advanced explosive devices  
* Timed and remote-detonation systems  
* Chemical dispersal mechanisms  
* Portable holographic disguising projectors  

The holographic system allows him to conceal his inhuman appearance temporarily and move through populated areas undetected.

At least until the explosions begin.

== Personality ==

Venom is cold, intelligent, paranoid, and consumed by bitterness toward ordinary humanity. Unlike flamboyant conquerors or theatrical criminals, Elias operates with grim focus and ideological certainty.

He genuinely believes he is fighting a war for the survival of his species.

Years of persecution and isolation stripped away much of his empathy toward ordinary humans. At the same time, he remains fiercely protective of vulnerable parahumans and mutant outcasts, whom he sees as victims of an irredeemably hostile society.

This contradiction makes him more complex than a simple mass murderer.

Though not necessarily less dangerous.

== Legacy ==

Venom became one of the defining extremist parahuman villains of the modern era and a recurring enemy of heroes such as [[Crucible:The Gauntlet|the Gauntlet]]. His stories explored themes of alienation, radicalization, prejudice, mutation, and the dangerous consequences of fear-driven politics.

Because Elias Kobra spent his entire life being treated like something poisonous.

Eventually...he decided to live up to the reputation.
