'''Warwheels''' is the supervillain identity of engineer '''Keegan Powell''', a brilliant inventor whose life collapsed after a catastrophic laboratory accident left him unable to walk and an insurance company refused to cover his medical care. Bitter, desperate, and furious at a system he believed had abandoned him, Powell constructed a heavily armed powered wheelchair and embarked upon a criminal career targeting the institutions he held responsible for his suffering.

Over time, what began as revenge evolved into something much larger.

Because once Keegan Powell discovered what his machines could do, ordinary life no longer seemed worth returning to.

== Keegan Powell ==

Before becoming Warwheels, Keegan Powell was regarded as an exceptionally talented mechanical and electronics engineer specializing in advanced mobility systems, compact power sources, and applied robotics. Colleagues considered him difficult but brilliant — the sort of engineer capable of solving impossible technical problems while simultaneously alienating everyone around him.

Despite his intelligence, Powell struggled financially and professionally. His projects often pushed beyond safety standards, and his tendency toward reckless experimentation made employers and investors wary.

Then came the explosion.

== The Accident ==

A catastrophic lab accident destroyed Powell’s workshop and left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down. The exact cause of the explosion remains disputed, though official investigations concluded Powell himself had ignored multiple safety protocols.

That ruling proved devastating.

His insurance provider refused to pay for long-term care and rehabilitation costs, arguing that Powell’s own negligence invalidated portions of his coverage. Suddenly facing enormous debt, chronic pain, and the collapse of his career, Powell spiraled rapidly into anger and obsession.

In his view, the system had abandoned him precisely when he needed it most.

He decided to stop asking the system for help.

== Building Warwheels ==

Drawing upon his engineering expertise, Powell designed and constructed an advanced powered combat wheelchair unlike anything previously seen. Originally intended merely to restore mobility and independence, the project evolved into something far more extreme as Powell added armor plating, integrated weapons systems, defensive technology, and an exoskeletal support harness.

The resulting machine transformed him physically and psychologically.

For the first time since the accident, Powell felt powerful again.

Adopting the name '''Warwheels''', he launched a violent campaign against the insurance company and financial institutions he blamed for his downfall. Banks, armored vehicles, and secure vaults soon became targets as Powell discovered his heavily armed mobility platform made robbery both profitable and surprisingly effective.

== Conflict With The Gauntlet ==

Warwheels eventually attracted the attention of [[Crucible:The Gauntlet|the Gauntlet]], whose members confronted him during a series of escalating robberies and attacks. Though initially underestimated because of his wheelchair, Powell proved extraordinarily dangerous in combat.

The Gauntlet eventually defeated and captured him.

Temporarily.

Powell rebuilt his systems following his release and embraced supervillainy fully thereafter, concluding that his inventions gave him greater freedom, wealth, and control than ordinary society ever had.

== Powers And Abilities ==

Warwheels possesses no innate superhuman powers, but his technological systems make him a formidable armored combatant.

His equipment includes:

* Nuclear-powered combat wheelchair
* Integrated weapons systems
* Reinforced armor plating
* Advanced mobility systems
* Powered exoskeleton support
* Tactical sensor arrays
* Defensive shielding systems

The chair itself functions as both mobility platform and heavily armed combat vehicle.

== The Combat Chair ==

Warwheels’ wheelchair is one of the most sophisticated compact combat systems developed by a non-government inventor. Over the years Powell has continually upgraded and modified the platform with increasingly dangerous technology.

Known systems reportedly include:

* energy weapons
* missile launchers
* smoke dispensers
* defensive countermeasures
* reinforced tritanium armor
* enhanced maneuverability systems

Despite its size, the chair is astonishingly durable and surprisingly fast.

Several heroes have made the mistake of assuming it was merely a mobility aid.

== Powered Exoskeleton ==

To supplement his upper-body strength and compensate for physical limitations, Powell also wears a powered exoskeletal harness that enhances his lifting capacity and combat survivability.

At the same time, Powell retains a dark sense of humor and occasionally displays surprising empathy toward other marginalized or injured individuals. He despises pity, however, and reacts violently to anyone treating him as helpless or inspirational.

To Warwheels, survival itself is victory.

Everything else is negotiation.

== Legacy ==

Warwheels became one of the more distinctive technology-based villains of the modern era, combining armored-wheelchair combat imagery, anti-corporate resentment, engineering genius, and supervillain spectacle into a recurring enemy of the Gauntlet and other heroes.

Because Keegan Powell refused to accept being discarded.

Unfortunately for everyone else, he decided the best response was to arm himself like a tank.
