Designed as an attempt to engineer the ultimate biological soldier, the experiment triggered a chemically induced form of lycanthropy that allowed Haar to transform voluntarily into a savage wolf-like creature of immense strength and ferocity. The process succeeded. At least scientifically. Psychologically, it created something barely human. Warwolf became one of the most terrifying superhuman weapons fielded by the Third Reich during World War II and a recurring enemy of the Victory Squadron until his death near the war’s end. == Wolfgang Haar == Before his transformation, Wolfgang Haar served as a loyal Nazi officer with a reputation for aggression, discipline, and physical toughness. Though hardly a scientific thinker himself, Haar possessed the qualities Doctor Omega valued in experimental subjects: fanaticism, physical resilience, and willingness to sacrifice humanity in service to power. Those traits made him a perfect candidate. And a disastrous one. == Doctor Omega’s Experiments == Late in World War II, Doctor Omega began pursuing increasingly extreme biological and occult-adjacent research in hopes of producing superhuman soldiers capable of reversing Germany’s deteriorating military position. Among these projects was an experimental chemical compound intended to trigger artificial lycanthropy — not true supernatural transformation, but a chemically induced mutation unlocking violent predatory instincts and radically altering human physiology. Most test subjects died horribly. Wolfgang Haar survived. Barely. == Birth Of Warwolf == The transformation granted Haar the ability to mutate into a gigantic wolf-like humanoid creature possessing tremendous strength, speed, and animalistic aggression. In this state he became known as Warwolf. Although Haar retained fragments of human intelligence while transformed, the beast increasingly overwhelmed his personality over time. Each transformation intensified his predatory instincts and weakened his emotional restraint, until even Nazi handlers struggled to control him. Doctor Omega reportedly considered this acceptable collateral damage. After all, Warwolf had not been designed to think. He had been designed to kill. == Enemy Of The Victory Squadron == Warwolf became one of the recurring superhuman threats encountered by the Victory Squadron during the latter years of the war. Unlike technologically dependent villains or trained occult operatives, Warwolf represented pure biological terror — a monstrous predator unleashed directly onto the battlefield. Encounters with him were frequently chaotic and brutal. Soldiers reported hearing howls across battlefields before attacks began. Entire squads were found torn apart during night operations. Even experienced heroes found Warwolf difficult to contain once fully enraged. Though repeatedly defeated, he returned again and again, driven less by ideology than by increasingly uncontrollable bloodlust. == Powers And Abilities == In his transformed state, Warwolf possessed immense superhuman physical abilities. His powers included: * Superhuman strength * Enhanced speed and agility * Extreme durability * Razor-sharp senses * Heightened smell and hearing * Enhanced reflexes * Animalistic ferocity Warwolf’s physical attacks were savage and direct, relying on claws, teeth, and overwhelming aggression rather than tactical sophistication. == The Beast Mind == One of the tragic consequences of the transformation was the gradual erosion of Haar’s human intellect during his werewolf state. Though capable of recognizing allies, enemies, and basic objectives initially, prolonged transformation increasingly reduced him to predatory instinct and rage. By the end of the war, observers questioned whether any meaningful trace of Wolfgang Haar remained within the creature at all. This deterioration likely contributed to the Nazis’ growing inability to control him. == Death == Warwolf was ultimately killed during the final stages of World War II after a series of increasingly catastrophic rampages. Accounts differ regarding the exact circumstances, though most agree the combined efforts of the Victory Squadron were required to stop him permanently. Even in death, Warwolf reportedly continued fighting long after suffering injuries that should have killed any ordinary being. It was a fitting end for one of Doctor Omega’s most horrifying creations. == Personality == As Wolfgang Haar, Warwolf displayed loyalty, aggression, and ideological fanaticism typical of many high-ranking Nazi officers of the era. After transformation, however, these traits became increasingly secondary to raw animal instinct. The creature that emerged cared little for politics or conquest. It hungered. That loss of humanity is what ultimately made Warwolf so disturbing. Unlike calculating villains who chose evil consciously, Warwolf gradually lost the ability to choose anything at all. He became a weapon that consumed its wielder. == Legacy == Warwolf became one of the defining monstrous villains of the Golden Age, combining wartime horror, mad science, werewolf mythology, and pulp superhuman action into a recurring enemy of the Victory Squadron. Because Doctor Omega’s greatest mistake was not creating a monster. It was believing the monster would remain obedient. </div> CCNav
