'''Yama''' is the superhuman strongman identity of '''Kenoshi Heyatsu''', a former sumo wrestler whose already formidable physique was mystically enhanced through bizarre ninja sorcery. Immensely powerful, extraordinarily durable, and possessed of an appetite bordering on legendary, Yama drifted through the criminal underworld as a mercenary bruiser before eventually joining [[Crucible:The Desperadoes|the Desperadoes]], largely because they offered better food.

Though often treated as comic relief by enemies, underestimating Yama has proven hazardous to both heroes and villains alike.

He may be cheerful.

He may be absurd.

But he can also throw a truck through a building.

== Kenoshi Heyatsu ==

Before becoming Yama, Kenoshi Heyatsu struggled through the lower ranks of professional sumo wrestling. Though naturally large and physically gifted, he lacked the discipline and consistency needed to rise successfully within the sport’s rigid hierarchy.

Worse, Kenoshi genuinely enjoyed eating more than training.

As his career declined, he drifted into debt, odd jobs, underground fighting, and eventually criminal work. It was during this difficult period that he encountered operatives connected to [[Crucible:The Eight-Headed Shadow|the Eight-Headed Shadow]], who recognized that his unusual size and physical resilience made him an ideal subject for experimental mystical enhancement techniques.

Kenoshi, needing money and lacking caution, agreed almost immediately.

== Ninja Sorcery ==

The exact details of the ritual remain unclear, partly because Yama himself only half understands what happened. A combination of occult conditioning, martial mysticism, and ancient enhancement rites amplified Kenoshi’s physical strength and durability to superhuman levels.

The process transformed him into a gigantic powerhouse whose flesh became protected by a strangely resilient layer of enchanted blubber.

According to Yama, maintaining this mystical protection requires “proper nourishment.”

By which he means constant eating.

== Mercenary Career ==

For a short time, Yama worked as muscle for various Japanese supervillains, performing bodyguard duties, enforcement jobs, and occasional combat operations. Unfortunately, his easygoing personality, lack of subtlety, and overwhelming interest in food made him poorly suited for disciplined ninja work.

Eventually he drifted into freelance mercenary employment.

This led him to [[Crucible:The Desperadoes|the Desperadoes]], who reportedly recruited him less through ideology than through the promise of unlimited pork chops and regular meals.

Yama considered this a very favorable arrangement.

== Powers And Abilities ==

Yama possesses immense superhuman physical power enhanced through mystical means.

His abilities include:

* Tremendous superhuman strength

* Powerful grappling ability

Yama’s bulk and mystical reinforcement make him extremely difficult to injure through conventional attacks.

One of Yama’s strangest defensive traits is the enchanted layer of blubber protecting his body. Though often mocked by opponents, the substance is remarkably resilient and capable of absorbing tremendous punishment.

Bullets, blunt impacts, and even some energy attacks often lose effectiveness against his bizarre supernatural mass.

Yama takes considerable pride in maintaining what he calls his “combat condition.”

This mostly involves eating constantly.

== Combat Skills ==

Despite appearances, Yama is not merely a mindless brute. His background in sumo and underground fighting gave him considerable close-combat experience before gaining powers.

His fighting style emphasizes:

* overwhelming physical pressure

Though not highly technical compared to elite martial artists, Yama’s sheer power makes even simple attacks devastating.

He enjoys comfort, food, money, and avoiding unnecessary stress.

At the same time, Yama is not unintelligent. Beneath the humor and appetite lies a practical survivor who understands exactly how dangerous the world can be. He prefers simple pleasures because life has rarely offered him anything else reliably.

And while he may joke constantly, angering him physically is usually a terrible idea.

== Legacy ==

Yama became one of the more eccentric powerhouse villains of the modern era, combining superhuman strength, martial-arts absurdity, ninja mysticism, and comedic criminal energy into a recurring member of the Desperadoes.

Because sometimes the universe creates terrifying engines of destruction driven by hatred, vengeance, or cosmic ambition.

And sometimes it creates a superhuman sumo wrestler willing to fight for pork chops.
