Playing a Nightcat
“The city is full of men with swords. A Nightcat is something else.”
Nightcats are not necessarily heroes. They are not soldiers. They are not chosen.
They are survivors.
They climb where others walk. They steal where others beg. They run where others die. They take risks because the world leaves them no safe choices.
If you are waiting for permission, you are already dead.
What Is a Nightcat?
A Nightcat is:
- A thief, a climber, a schemer
- A survivor of bad places and worse luck
- Someone who acts when others hesitate
- Someone who lives by wit as much as steel
A Nightcat is not defined by honor, law, or duty—but by opportunity.
How to Play a Nightcat
When in doubt, play bold.
- Act first — hesitation kills
- Take risks — safe plans rarely pay
- Use the environment — rooftops, crowds, shadows
- Talk your way in or out — blades are not your only tool
- Know when to run — living beats winning
If your plan is simple and dangerous, it is probably right.
What Matters
- Position matters — Where you stand is often more important than what you roll.
- Timing matters — Strike too early and you fail. Too late and you die.
- Reputation matters — What people think of you can open doors—or close them forever.
- Coin matters— Not for wealth—for survival.
The Shape of Play
Nightcats stories are about:
- Heists and theft
- Escapes and chases
- Dangerous bargains
- Betrayals and shifting loyalties
- Getting in over your head—and getting out alive
You will often begin in trouble.
That is where Nightcats live.
You Are Not Alone
Nightcats work best together—not because they trust each other, but because:
- Someone watches your back
- Someone talks when you cannot
- Someone climbs faster
- Someone hits harder
Trust is rare. Cooperation is survival.
Trouble Follows You
If things are going smoothly, something is wrong.
- The job is never as simple as it seems
- The mark is never as weak as they look
- Someone always wants what you have
Expect complications. Welcome them.
A Good Nightcat
A good Nightcat is:
- Bold — takes action
- Clever — finds angles
- Unpredictable — hard to control
- Practical — knows when to cut losses
Not every plan succeeds.
A good Nightcat lives anyway.
Final Word
Climb fast. Cut clean. Leave nothing behind but questions.
