Crucible:ARGUS

In one possible future, ARGUS was a massive quantum computer system designed jointly by the Watchstar computer, MAGUS, and Simon Matthews. But they overlooked a serious design flaw. Once installed, ARGUS turned malevolent, controlling the world's computer networks and paralyzing society. It also was able to create cybernetically enhanced soldiers cloned from the hero Cobra as weapons of war, and it soon launched a genocidal war against humanity. Billions died when ARGUS launched nuclear missiles against large cities across the world to decrease the human population. The survivors were pursued by the cybertroopers and murderous robots.

Most of the world's heroes died in the genocidal war, but the remains of Watchstar survived, and with help from their past selves, were able to destroy ARGUS.
