Crucible:Isotope Man

Real Name: Henry Gordon

Background: Allan Gordon's brother Henry was a bookish academic who was exposed to the radiation of the world's first atomic weapon. Gaining strange and amazing radiation powers, he took the name Isotope Man and joined his brother Power Man on many adventures. As the war continued, however, Henry's powers grew at an astronomical rate. So too did his desire to end the war and promote peace. As well, his hubris grew. In a climactic decision, Isotope Man, now nearly godlike in the range of his powers, refused to allow the US to drop nuclear weapons on Japan. He disabled all US atomic weapons, forcing a prolongation of World War II until 1948. A nearly unstoppable force, the US had to recruit Doctor Omega, now a prisoner of war, to destroy him. His death allowed the US to finally end the war.

Status: Deceased

Powers: Isotope Man could initially absorb and direct nuclear radiation blasts. As his powers grew, however, there seemed to be no upper limit of his powers. He could transmute elements into other elements, control nuclear reactions, teleport from one place to another, and was even beginning to read minds.
