Crucible:Watchstar Submarine
The Watchstar submarine, codenamed Vanguard, was constructed at the Gauntlet's instruction as a way of extending the team's capabilities. The sub is a modified Andrews International hull design, with additions from Simon Matthews of a MHD drive and fusion power. She is capable of depths up to 1000 meters and speeds up to 40 knots. The Vanguard was named in memory of the late superhero of the same name, an early member of Watchstar. A crew of three—pilot, engineer, and sonar—can easily run the vessel and it can sustain long-term life support for up to 50 in emergencies.
The Vanguard sat unused at Watchstar's submarine dock until Surge discovered it just before the Transasian invasion of Isola. It has only been used a few times since then, once most notably in the recent rescue by Watchstar of the US nuclear submarine New Orleans.
