Crucible:Beetle

Real Name: Barney Furley

Background: Timid and bookish, a failure with women and money and everything else he ever tried, Unity City inventor Barney Furley had one skill: he was brilliant with machines and could fix just about anything. With more self-confidence he might have made himself wealthy from his innovations, but his own timidity held him back.

Down on his luck, needing money, he built a massive suit of powered armor that could drill through steel walls and, calling himself the Beetle, used it to rob banks. He found he liked the respect he got when he was in the armor and moved on to other acts of villainy, coming up against the Unity League on several occasions. He was eventually recruited to be part of Mesmerio's super-team the Marauders.

Maybe one day he will get the respect of his best girl, Miss Lurlene.

Group Affiliation: The Marauders

Skills: Furley is a genius with electronics and mechanical devices.

Technology: The Beetle armor is an extremely advanced weapons system, considering he built it in his own basement.
